Springridge Farm Spring Program for preschool/primary students.
Programs are curriculum based and designed for inquiry learning.
Take a WAGON RIDE along the escarpment (opportunity to observe a farm using all 5 senses).
Visit the pumpkin field to PLANT PUMPKIN SEEDS (growth and change in plants).
LEARN ABOUT THE SUN AND WATER, and how they help plants to grow (needs and characteristics of living things).
Visit an OBSERVATION BEE HIVE to learn about the bees.
Feed baby goats, chicks and bunnies (growth and change in animals).
Jump in the huge straw bales and explore the corn trail.
Each child will receive a "How Pumpkins Grow" activity sheet.
Programs are modified to be age appropriate, full of hands-on and sensory stimulating activities and are also geared to correlate with the Ontario Science and Technology curriculum for grades K-3.
REFRESHMENT: Apple Juice.
TIME and COST: The morning and afternoon programs are 1 1/2 hours, and the cost is $8 per child (+HST). The 11:00 or 11:30am lunch-time program is 2 hours, and the cost is $8.50 per child (+HST). Food is not included; children bring a litterless lunch. There is a minimum group charge for 20 children per tour guide. Programs run rain or shine. Payment is due at time of the tour.
Teachers and EAs are included in the cost of the tour. Adult helpers are included up to a 5:1 ratio (children to adult). Any adults over this will be charged $7 each (+HST).
SPRINGRIDGE FARM: Springridge Farm is a beautiful fruit farm located on the side of the Niagara Escarpment, just west of Milton. At Springridge there is a 19th century barn with a gift shop, market and bakery and Fun Farm Yard play area outside.
